THE FINAL INSPECTION
The soldier stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Hi mate were do i start not wrote to you for a bit, well i know i miss you a lot as well as the kids and of course your other half mick my beloved. Well sar in her new home now and i miss her so much its not the same without you both being here its nice when we come up home and see sarah and the family but its not the same just the three of us you are souly missed. When we came up at christmas we took you some flowers and i had a little word with you about my brother andrew i lost not so long ago asking you to look after him up there for me. So i hope you two have got together by now and looking down on us always tell him i love him and miss him loads and of course i miss you too life is not the same its been very hard for us all mostly mick i am sure he will write something to you soon. And dont worry i will look after sar and the kids for you and of couse be there when i can for your mam and dad well thats all for now mate just do me one favour will you ask the angels up there why did there take away the two most important people in our lives love and miss you loads always in our thoughts goodnight mate till we meet again r.i.p shaz, mick and the kidsxxxxxxxxxxx
